About Me

Hello, I'm Kris Brown. I have been a PDA user for the past ten years. I first started with a Palm IIIx. My next unit was a Palm M505, then a Zire71 and finally a Tungsten T5. I wore out all of them out from my heavy usage.

Unfortunately, when the T5 bit the dust, Palm was getting ready to introduce the Pre. Since the Pre will be using a new OS, and past history has shown that old Palm applications are not necessarily compatible with the new software, I decided to switch to Windows Mobile since I was more than likely going to have to invest in new applications, anyway. Early reports also sounded like the Pre was going to be targeted more towards the entertainment sector, and I am more of a power user.

This time, I went to a smartphone since I had gotten tire of hauling around a PDA and a separate cell phone. I purchased an HTC Fuze from AT&T and love it. Yes, the Windows Mobile interface is not quite as intuitive as my old Palm's, but in my opinion, the gorgeous graphics and wide availability of software titles more than makes up for it. Note that the Fuze uses HTC TouchFlo technology for the user interface instead of standard Windows Mobile, so I may not have been as happy if I had gotten a different brand of smartphone.

I also love having the slideout keyboard. I have tried to use the onscreen keyboard, but I am much faster typing with keys.

My favorite applications are Opera, ListPro, Pocket Informant, Pocket Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office Mobile, These applications cover pretty much anything I need to do work-wise.

I think everyone can benefit from a PDA or smartphone to stay organized and as a mobile entertainment option.
